The Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a lightweight single-engine multirole fighter manufactured by the Swedish aerospace company Saab. The new Gripen (Swedish for Gryphon) utilizes fourth-generation technology, an efficient augmented turbofan engine, all-digital fly-by-wire controls, and canard wing control surfaces. The Gripen package was designed for FS2004 and is released as freeware. JAS39 is an airplane for the combat, the attack, and the scout developed as a succession of Viggen. The Swedish-built and designed Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a single-engine, single-seat multi-role all-weather fighter.
